Does your pet have a health issue?

Whether you have a puppy, old dog, kitten, old cat, rabbit, fish, horse, guinea pigs, or hamsters.. whatever pet you’ve chosen as your companion.. if they’re limping, having a hard time breathing, have a gross protruding lump from their skin, not eating/drinking, have diarrhea, a weird rash, smell funny, or doing things that are very unlike their personality.. PLEASE, for the love of God, do not get on Yahoo! Answers and ask people on the INTERNET how to fix your pets problem. CALL. A. FREAKING. VETERINARIAN. For christs sake, think if you were in their position.. would you take advice from a handful of idiots on a computer or trust the opinion of your doctor??? And even if there happens to be one soul on here that knows what they’re talking about.. you’re still going to get bombarded with answers from people who have no clue about animals that could lead you to confusion and improper treatment.

I’m really not trying to be offensive, but if you care about your pet.. call your vet.

Is everyone aware that there are veterinary specialists who are experts in specific fields of medicine?

I am just curious if people know they have this option because I know there are people who have asked health questions on here and have complained that there have been going back and forth to their local vet with little success. They tend to be more expensive but they are great for second opinions especially if your local vet is unable to determine or effectively treat your pet’s illness.

I noticed that there’re a lot of people asking pet questions that requires them to go to a vet ASAP. I also know for a fact that Ontario has a telehealth hotline (or something like that) for people who just has a health question and cannot wait to go to a doctor. Anyone know if there’s something like this for pets in their area?

When did people start keeping mice and rats as pets?

It just seems kinda odd. People think that rats brought the black plague(even though it was the fleas), and think of them as unsanitary. When and why did people start keeping rats and mice as pets? Now we know that they are smart and cute, and generally healthy, but we only know this because they are so common in captivity.. Before that, everyone thought they were nasty and mean.

My cat may have cancer. What can I do to improve his health/chances?

Merlin is 12 years old. He has already been scheduled for surgery, later this month, to removed the large tumor (which is on his hind leg), but the results from biopsy won’t be back until May 1st.

In general, he has experienced good health, and is active, though chubby (12.8 pounds). He lives with two female cats, one older and one much younger. They all eat a high quality dry food, for sensetive skin, and are much-loved indoor cats.

I know the usual answers (chemotherapy, vet-precribed medication), but was hoping that pet lovers might have some other ideas, foods or supplements he could injest, homeopathic remedies, medical therapies that have worked for pets you know, specific medications that worked wonders for your baby, etc.

Question about people who ask questions on yahoo! answers?

Future Top Chef asked:

Why do people ask questions on Yahoo! answers, instead of googling them, and getting the answers, or if they ask questions in pets, why don’t they ask their vet instead? Of if they’re asking in health why don’t they ask their health care professinal? No offense to anyone, who asks questions or answers them. I’m just wondering.

pet lemon law for my english bulldog?

popsicle asked:

Hi,
My boyfriend recently purchased a miniature english bulldog from bulldogs on the beach in Hollywood Florida. We paid more than $2500 for our precious dog Rambo, the price of the dog and the amount it cost to fly him over to California from Florida. Our home was recently remodeled and we have no history of having a sick pet or even any other animals in our house, however Rambo has developed a really terrible case of generalized demodex. It was initially a localized demodex just on his forehead and we immediately took him to the vet. We were given antibiotics, Ivermectin and some eye drops, however it has not be really effective and now his demodex has spread all over his chest, all four legs and it’s beginning to affect his back.
Out of curiosity, I looked up bulldogs on the beach and found that there has been several complaints about the owner of the business. He owns a variety of breeding sites: NY bulldogs, Bulldogs NYC, Puppy Elite Kennel [now shut down] and many of the puppies sold have extremely bad health problems. In addition, they provide fake AKC paperwork and forge vet papers.
I’m so shocked and extremely upset. The vet told us that Rambo’s demodex was given to him by his mother or littermates and his generalized demodex is an indicator of a defect immune system. By the way he is now a little over 5 months so he’s still a baby. However, I was wondering is there any legal course of action i can take against the owner of this business? I understand the pet Lemon law can be used, but I don’t really understand any of these legal matters.
Any help or legal understanding would be really helpful for us.
I understand that miniature english bulldogs are not recognized as a breed and they are prone to more health problems and I’m not looking for negative answers pertaining to this fact. thank you
